CO v.7.15. beta Jan-17
Money 2007
the budget does not synchronize correctly. Adding a new budget group in CO will give a sync error.
It has to be said, however, that Money 2007 (in the spending and savings budget) has fixed budget groups (committed expenses, irregular expenses, etc.) which cannot be modified. Adding or deleting categories to these groups will not sync properly.
Perhaps it would be best not to sync budget at all for the time being.
best regards

... which, in turn, allows to go back to Project-based budgeting. |

How much groups you can create in MS Money? More than one? |

CO 7.15 beta
MS Money 2007
Budget
description of the problem:
1. Money 2007 knows only six budget groups
- Income
- Irregular Expenses
- Committed Expenses
- Fun
- Savings and Dept
- Retirement
These budget groups cannot be modified. No budget groups can be added.
Categories can be added/deleted within these budget groups.
When you start sync CO with a blank budget screen, everything is o.k.
The six categories of Money will sync with CO and from then on you can add/delete categories within these budget groups either in CO or in Money.
The sync problem arises when you ADD A NEW BUDGET GROUP in CO (which is not known to Money). You should not do that, you must stay with the SIX BUDGET GROUPS OF MONEY!
So, the problem is really that CO will allow individual budget groups and Money will NOT.
A solution would be to limit CO also to the six famous goups of Money
or
to tell Microsoft to allow individual budget groups in Money. I don't think this will work since the six budget groups are part of a budget philosophy that was implanted by the developers of Money.
or
to tell CO users who want to sync with Money not to enter individual budget groups which do not correspond to the six groups in Money.
I can live with that, CO is great and since Money does not understand individual budget groups, I will not use any for the time being.
However, for those users who do not know this intricacies, they will get sync error messages until they find out.
best regards

The synchronizer can't improve MS Money but only synchronize data.

Can you explain to HMHH http://www.inesoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16 a decision to cut the budget functionality on more time?

I don't think MS cares about that. What's about a currency history? If someone use more than one currency, all reports MS Money produces worth nothing. Do they care about that?

Yes, you are right, a synchronization FAQ is being written. |

Wasyl, you are absolutely right!
The purpose is not to improve MS Money, but to sync data ( I love your sense of humor!)
I think that the issue is well settled for everybody when you include an explanation in FAQ.
The best of course would be a desktop version of CO!
Happy New Year, by the way, thank you for making our life easier with CO!
best wishes!
