Hi there,
I have been using the trial version of CO for a couple weeks now, and I can honestly say it's a fine product. A lot of work has been done to make sure it's useful and very intuitive. Great job!!
I'm curious about the sync process though. In the documentation, it claims that the first synchronization needs a lot of time to perform. This is definitely understandable. But with every sync, my device goes through 3,848 different payees at about 2 per second labeled "Applying payee changes". This, obviously, takes a long time to complete. And even though I can disconnect my device while this is going on (great feature, by the way), it basically renders my device inoperable.
Should this (and the other "applying" status windows) be happening with every sync? There may have been a new payee added, but most likely nothing has been changed with my payees, only new transactions entered. How can this be adjusted so it takes up less time to sync?
I am currently using WM5, Windows Vista, and CO 7.22.

If you were able to synchronize data on Vista machine, I suppose you use MS Money. Here's a link to the official compatibility specs. http://www.inesoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=17#17

All depends on your database size and mobile device hardware when you synchronize data from your desktop computer to the new database on your mobile device. Form a mobile device data should be copied to PC very fast.

Cash Organizer synchronizes only changes made, but you probably did not finish the first synchronization. ActiveSync may display "Synchronized", but that info is not true. Both programs apply changes made by the synchronizer and then make own changes to the database. That causes additional payee synchronizations.
Please allow the synchronizer to process all needed changes during the fist synchronization, and when done, it will synchronize only actual changes and the process will take just a few seconds. |
